I just got back from a trip to the Riviera Maya in Mexico.
My husband and I had a great time watching the waves, learning the language, enjoying the sunshine, and talking to the locals. Our intent was to get away from the cold Minnesota weather. Usually we try to see some historical sites when traveling, but this time, it was very leisurely.
We stayed at the Riu Playacar.
They had so many activities; we hardly needed to leave the hotel. An added benefit is that you can enjoy the RIU Yucatan as well as the RIU Tequila for lunch and sun bathing. It is fun to look at all the resorts and find the one that fits your vibe. The first day we got acclimated to the resort. I couldn’t believe that the first people we met on the way to our room were people from Minnesota. It seemed that the majority of guests were from Minnesota, Canada, and Argentina. Of course my random sampling is not scientific, but it was fun meeting English and Spanish speakers.
Learning Spanish
Mark and I decided to brush up on our Spanish while there. They had daily lessons by the pool, and Mark downloaded a couple of Spanish apps on his phone. We’ve got the basics, but I need a few more lessons to be able to speak it. It would be fun to spend a month next year, just to learn the language.
Let me know your experiences with learning Spanish.
