Drive around Galway Bay to view the Cliffs of Moher, an impressive 700 feet above the Atlantic Ocean. It is one of the sites you don't want to miss if you are in Ireland. We took a bus ride from Dublin to the Cliffs.
The Cliffs take their name from a ruined promontory fort "Mothar" which was demolished during the Napoleonic wars to make room for a signal tower at Hag's Head. Plan to spend about 90 minutes at the site.
There are two vistas to explore. One side has steps to a tower. There is an extra fee to climb it's spiral staircase, with views both ways.
On the drive home we went along the Burren, a limestone and fossil Lunar like rock coastline. It was beautiful. We stopped in Galway for about 2 hours. The cobblestone streets and village were quaint. It has a variety of restaurants from casual to luxury.
