Kansas City is known for its barbecue and this was a must do. We visited Oklahoma Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que . We could tell when we drove into the parking lot that it was going to be good. We got there at 11:00 AM and it was packed. The owners bought a little neighborhood gas station and convenience store, and turned it into a restaurant. Their smoked meat has hypnotized customers for years. The beef brisket was fabulous, baked beans sumptuous, and French fries crispy. Before we left the restaurant, I purchased a bottle of their bar-b-que sauce so I could savor the flavor at home. This visit, was worth the whole trip.
Next we went to T-REX, located in the Legends Outlet Mall. The biggest attraction at this restaurant are huge dinosaurs. There is a different type of dinosaur around every corner. Your kids will love this. It reminds me of a museum.
Since we were at the mall, we shopped, drank coffee, and went to Dave and Busters. I was really impressed with the number of games at Dave and Busters. Plenty of grown-ups were reliving their childhood. | No trip would be complete without going to The Plaza. The area was a bit crowded, even with the temperature in the 20's. The Plaza architecture reminds me of the Southwest, complete with fountains. It is also near the art museum. We didn't have time to view art, but it is a good museum. |
Unfortunately there were no football or baseball games. I wish I was there when I could see the Royals or the Chiefs. For a lighthearted review of the city, view the video below. |
