During times of great difficulty, when it’s impossible to leave our homes, travel and discover new places, we have more time to rest, relax, meditate, and read. I wrote a poem entitled, "Don't Let a Good Crisis Go to Waste." I hope you enjoy it.
Don't Let a Good Crisis Go to Waste
Are you sick?
Do you have a cough and a fever?
Do you find it hard to breathe?
Watch out, you may have COVID-19.
Striking old and new.
It may be you.
Don't panic.
It's time to beat this pandemic.
Eat healthily and wear a mask.
Please God, all we ask
Is to be spared by this cruel pandemic.
I pray and pray for those afflicted.
More prayers for health care workers.
They toil, giving their all for humanity.
Some die after catching the virus.
Their dedication won't let them give up during this crisis.
High unemployment rates won't go away.
Death rates going from 7 to 700/day.
How do we cope with this atrocity?
Staying home is killing the economy.
Unemployment rates up to 18 percent
22 million are in a descent
Our economy is going into recession.
Will it put you on the edge of depression?
The government set up a stimulus package.
Hopefully, you'll get your $1200 to help you manage the damage.
Skip rent a few months
Might help you get through some bumps
Kids are schooling at home.
The online curriculum can be drone.
Parents more involved in schooling.
Trying to make it not too grueling.
Our technology talents have improved.
Because we Zoomed.
Church, school, meetings, and fun
Are now done through the Internet's run.
We're forced to stay home for most of the time.
But we can grocery shop, bank, and exercise.
Taking walks helps lift our spirits,
But keeping 6 feet apart isn't something we want to inherit.
We may eulogize the life we had.
The life of independence, work, and hugs that made us glad.
Now we are confined, distancing and missing loved ones.
Don't let fear consume your life, we've got big guns.
Don't let your spirit die,
We need to support each other and thrive.
Call, Skype, Face-time, and write.
Keep others' spirits bright.
We know a vaccine will be made.
Don't be afraid.
They are working fast and furious.
To fix this before it is too injurious.
Don't let this crisis go to waste.
Find a silver lining with haste.
Consider doing things you've let go.
It may even make you grow.
